Hi! So I am an avid reader and writer... Here are some books I'm writing. The link for more is by the title.
Craft- There are so many "Disease-Ridden Earth" stories, and this is one of them. But there's more to the theme, that you think...
Abbreviated as Craft, the disease known as Craftani Ras has petrified the whole surface of the Earth in fear. Adelynn Sanef is one of the many who doesn't think much of it... Until it strikes her family. Click HERE for more Chapters!
Chapter One
I wake up to the same old boring song on my alarm. I groan and tap the button that says "Snooze". At the moment, my mother walks in. It's so cold outside, and I'm too comfy in my pajamas.
"Mooooom, wake me up in fifteen minutes. Let me sleep for a bit."
I'm expecting the normal "No! Adelynn, get up, it's school time!" but today, she stays quiet.
"Sorry, they canceled school today. It's because of Craftani Ras."
I sigh. "Mom, can you not talk about that? It's all stupid, it's like that stupid Ebola Outbreak thing. Can you just be quiet?"
"Adelynn!" My mother retorts. "Don't talk to me like that! Now, the news broadcast about it is going CRAZY! Turn on your T.V.."
I sit up slowly, rubbing my eyes. Where's my older sister, Chelsea, while this is happening? I reach for the remote on my bed, and turn it on to reveal an Emergency Broadcast.
"Attention, all citizens of the United States of America. This is an emergency broadcast from the President of the United States. We will continue your original scheduled broadcast after this is completed.
Craftani Ras, nicknamed Craft, is spreading rapidly across Earth."
Then, the broadcast switches to a live video stream to the president, Adam Tacanek.
"Craft. Craftani Ras," he says, voice rising with every word. "The deadly disease. Previously, Ebola. Bird Flu, H1N1. We can get through this. We are rapidly working for a cure. If you have any of these symptoms, visit a hospital immediately. Symptoms of Craftani Ras include vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, fever, swelling in the neck or face, and excessive sneezing. The source of this outbreak has been traced to monkeys, and other primates. Zoos will not be open until we have made it clear each animal is not an active carrier of Craftani Ras. Thank you."
My heart skips a beat. Monkeys? We live right by a popular zoo.
Then, the Emergency Broadcast reappears onto the screen.
"Again, if you have any symptoms of Craftani Ras, go to a hospital immediately. Your regular schedule broadcast will now resume. Thank you."
But... Craftani Ras isn't a real threat. Is it?
Wings- Skylar Ganle always dreams. Everybody does; but hers are different. A mysterious man is always in them- with golden clothes and angel wings. He's repeating the same sentences all the time. It's her job to figure out what it means... Oh, and save the world at the same time. Click HERE for more Chapters!
Prolouge-
"Hello. Just do it, alright?" he says, a tear dripping onto the ice.
"No... I... I can't. You... No."
He looks up back at me, smiling.
"Yes, you have to. Do you want the world... to..."
I choke out a few words before my eyes become glassy.
"No. But..." the rumbling of the avalanche grows louder. "I love you."
He embraces me tightly.
The sound is louder.
"I love you too. I will love you until the end."
I don't think he can hear me, but I whisper to him, "I want you to be okay."
The roaring sound fills my ears.
I kiss him on the cheek and we stand there, until the snow engulfs us.
Chapter One
"Oh, Miss Ganle! Have they appeared?" replies the winged man in my dreams.
"You know-- I don't know what you're talking about. Anyway, what's your name? You never told me in the gazillion dreams we've talked."
He laughs, and folds his hands.
"Where are we? The sky?" I ask, looking around me.
It's like a sun room... But in the sky.
"Ah, yes. The sky, my home! Isn't it so enjoyable? Skylar, you were named after it!"
Crossing my arms, I say "No I wasn't. Can I go back to regular sleep? I'm tired."
"Before you go- I have to tell you something."
My eyes start to close. I yawn.
"When the wings emerge, deaths will also. The world shall turn; look down the hall."
I raise an eyebrow.
"Wha-?"
"Goodbye, Miss Ganle. Rest well."
With a wave of his hand, I wake up in my bed. My clock reads 3:40. I sigh, bringing the covers over my body. I drift into a deep, restful sleep.
"It's getting even worse! That same guy. Nobody believes me when I say, 'There's a guy who's reappearing in my dreams and is repeating weird sentences'. It's stupid!" I tell my best friend, Katelyn.
"Sky, I believe ya'. It's interesting. Anyway, I-"
"Hold on. It's Sam."
Katelyn winks at me. "Hmm. A relationship, I see in the future..."
I smack her arm playfully and look at his text.
Hey Skylar. Meet me at Grace Corum Park, today at 5:00 pm. It's important. Try not to be late.
-Sam
"Weird, much? When someone tells you to meet them somewhere, and they say it's important, that's NEVER good." says Katelyn, looking at the text.
She spins around in my desk chair, inspecting her fingernails.
"Katelyn. I have to dream again. Can I meet you tomorrow? We don't have school."
She shrugs. "Sure. Just text me if you find out more about that winged dude. See ya'."
After she leaves, I climb into bed.
"C'mon, brain! Please dream." I repeat that until I'm back in the sky room.
"Sup. So, uh, now do you tell me your name?"
He laughs. It sounds so clear, like...
"Is your name Sky?"
He snorts. "No. My name I will not tell you."
I furrow my brow. "TELL ME!" My body feels like its on fire. "Deaths will also? I'm thinking of you!" I yell.
"N-no! Skylar Ganle, stop it!" He screams in pain- at least as I can tell.
"Not until you tell me your name!" I scream back.
"My name! My name is-" but before he says anything, the room and where he is, crumbles.
Like an earthquake, I fall onto the sky-room ground.
He explodes into a bunch of bright light and sparks.
I sit bolt upright back in my bed. My clock says 4:45.
I have to meet Sam, and fast.
Sold Out- Now, there's technically not an official description for this, because I've been writing it on Microsoft Word. Sorry! If you want more chapters, I can PM you some.
“Jessica Larson, good morning.” says the machine in my room. I don’t need updates every day, do I? I try to get my mood to a happier state by smiling. I can’t even smile. Why? Oh, right. I know, Selling Day.
Every girl, unless they are part of a family in the government gets sold as a servant to a family at the age of sixteen. Men—or children, as I call them because they are so immature; must be 18 to buy a woman for their home. Girls must go to their city dome—mine is EC203--- goes up on the pathetic ‘runway’ and if the men are interested in that girl being a servant, they call out a simple price. People keep bidding, bidding, more and more until nobody wants to pay any more for the girl. Fathers and brothers are not allowed to bid on a family member, as a government fears another rebellion. After a man wins a girl for his servant, she says goodbye to anybody she has in her home… And then, she’s off to be in a new family.
That means, I won’t be able to go home after today.
Shaking the negative thought from my head, I slip on a beautiful silk dress, that’s red with white fringe on the bottom. I have red and white shoes to match. I still can’t master the art of walking in high heels.
After looking in the mirror for almost ten minutes, I walk downstairs to see my father putting fresh, warm pancakes on my plate. It’s normally the machines who make our meals.
“Jessica. You should eat. You won’t get any food until…” says my father, trailing off. “I get to my new home, dad.” I reply, twirling the fork on my plate, my food untouched. “Just eat, okay Jessica?” asks my dad. My mouth twitches as I take a small bite.
Then, my machine makes a ding! “Jessica Larson, please report to Dome EC203. Jessica Larson, please report to Dome EC203.” My heart gives a flutter. “I… I can take you. Let’s go.” Whispers my father, clearly upset. “Love you. Sorry I can’t see you. Hopefully I’ll be okay.” I say. Hopefully is not the word I should be using.
The next ten minutes are spent in silence as I sit in the backseat as my dad drives to the city Dome.
How will I be treated? I repeat the thought in my head until I hear muffled yells. The windows are open at the Dome.
“I’ll miss you so much, Jessica. I have to leave… I love you.” says my father, hugging me tightly. I hug him back and say, “I’ll miss you too, dad. I want you to remember I’ll be okay. I love you. Don’t cry.” I can’t really stop tears rolling down my face. Then, it’s time for the selling. We part, and my legs shake as I enter the backstage.
“Hello. I’m Aliya. Aliya Poanie.” says a tall, thin girl. She must have put some makeup on, because her eyelashes are curving in a perfect way. “Um, hi, I’m Jessica.” I say, introducing myself. I give a half smile and shake her hand. “Well, I hope the Farno’s aren’t at the selling today,” she says. “They’re horrible.” I raise an eyebrow. “Who is the Farno family? I’ve never heard of them.”Aliya gives me a surprised look. “You’ve never heard of them? Wow. Anyway, they treat all the girls horribly. I’ve heard they feed them almost nothing, putting things in their drinks, and more.” I tense up and hope I’m not going to be sold to them.
“Now, Aliya Poanie on the runway.” says a large machine by the runway. “Good luck and goodbye Aliya.” Aliya gives me a quick smile and nods. “Bye, Jessica.” She walks onto the runway and after many prices, I hear, “Fourteen hundred, five hundred dollars, sold!” A loud curse is heard. Then, it’s my turn.
I walk onto the runway. Lights flash into my eyes. I hear prices immediately being yelled. Six! Seven! Nine! Eleven! Twelve! Nineteen! Twenty Four! I’m dizzy from the sounds until I hear, “Thirty thousand, four hundred.” After that, the whole Dome is silent. Thirty thousand four hundred dollars, that’s unheard of!
“Winner of Miss Larson, step forward.” says somebody- I don’t know who, backstage.
Then, a tall man with a coat steps forward. A hat covers most of his face. Who would want to hide their identity?
“My name is Charles Farno. I’ll take the girl.”
I give a slight gasp and back up a few steps until I’m at the edge of the side of the runway. Hundreds of men could have bought me as a servant, but Charles Farno? Why?
I don’t have much time to think until I’m shoved off the stage and Charles Farno grabs me by the arm and we reach outside.
“Move, pathetic girl!” he yells, pushing me into his long car in front of the Dome.
When I enter, the walls are lined with velvet, wood accents, and so many kinds of material.
I see small glasses of clear liquid on my left. What are they?
After a few seconds of looking at the glasses, Mr. Farno says, “If you want one, drink it.” I shake my head. I’m nervous and I scoot away slightly.
He looks angry, and slams his hand on the seat. “Take it!”
My eyes water as my shaky hand extends and takes a glass. Luckily, I spill a bit, yet Mr. Farno is looking out the window.
When he turns around, he notices I’m still holding the glass. He then says, “Drink the rest, girl.” I do, afraid of anything else. When I finally drain the last of the liquid, my vision is blurred.
The last thing I see is Mr. Farno’s piercing, green eyes.
And that's it! I might update another, but so far, this is what I have. I hope you like them!
