Cat's name: Poppyclaw
Gender: Male
Appearance: a long furred, darker reddish tom. He has faint mackerel tabby markings, which can be seen more clearly in the sunlight. Poppyclaw has a thick and fluffy tail which often may be covered in dirt from him going somewhere alone and getting it stuck because of the long fur. He's not a cat who cares a lot about his appearance, so it's not unusual for him to actually walk around with his fur sticking up everywhere. Poppyclaw's eyes are a dark green color, like those of of a for tree's needles. Poppyclaw has numerous scars from fights he's been in, no matter if rogue or fox. His right ear is torn, though he has never named the reason why and has just appeared back in camp with a torn ear one day.
Personality: Poppyclaw is rather introverted and absolutely dislikes big crowds. He likes to keep to himself and either stays in his den, checking on patients and the herb stock, or goes out of camp to collect herbs; though, it has often happened before that Poppyclaw has also brought back a mouse. It's not uncommon for him to have days where he wishes to go on patrol as well, or join a battle, but at the end of the day, being a medicine cat is what makes him happy. He may be a bit straight-forward, even if his comment is harsh, but usually knows which cats are actually hurt by his words and tries to keep it down around them. He often fails with that, though.
Poppyclaw is a great fighter, and can take care of himself very well. He doesn't back down if somebody comes at him in a fight and will meet them head-on. He used to seek out fights and battle trainings as an apprentice, but has calmed down over the time. He usually doesn't react aggressive anymore and is often seen mocking anybody who tries to lure him into attacking.
There's little cats he actually has respect for, his respect mostly goes to senior warriors, the leader, or elders. It's not uncommon for him to suddenly disappear without anybody knowing, too. He often goes out of camp to collect herbs without telling a single soul, and does so often before even dawn arrives. Over the years, he's come to be more considerate, though. Just in case he is needed, he usually tells whoever is up that he's going out. If nobody is up, he just goes without saying anything.
While he has improved and isn't as passive-aggressive anymore, Poppyclaw still isn't the most tactical cat and, if if in danger, would give his position away really fast by stepping on a twig. He's not as aware of his surroundings as some of the best hunters are.
He is usually a cat of few words, and is annoyed if somebody chatters with him or keeps questioning his abilities, but answers calmly to them nonetheless. He takes his job as a medicine cat very serious and it's the joy of his life, he even admits to it, if asked. Poppyclaw has an excellent memory, but is absolutely horrible at climbing.
He has a different belief in StarClan than most. They do exist for him, as he has seen them before, but his belief is that they're only dead cats and that there's nothing special about them. Poppyclaw doesn't see StarClan as a source of wisdom that he can turn to if there's problems. Of course, he does understand that they have gained wisdom over their lives, but at the same time, they can't know everything. He does ask them for help if the leader wants him to, and he does gather with the other medicine cats to share tongues with them, but he absolutely hates their way of talking in riddles. As a straight-forward cat himself, he hates the fact that StarClan never tells things as they are, and build a dream or riddle around it. He's not the most respectful cat when it comes to talking to StarClan warriors.

History: As a kit, Poppyclaw had always been around the apprentices, asking them to show him battle moves. Upon learning them as good as a kit could, Poppyclaw kept trying to learn more from them, but was shooed away. He used to try and provoke the apprentices to attack him, but upon his mother finding out, he was sent to the medicine cat to keep them company. At first, Poppyclaw wasn't thrilled about that and was set on annoying the medicine cat so that he would be shooed away again, but only a short time after that, he became fascinated by the herbs. There were so many, and so much to learn, and the medicine cat actually answered every question he had, unlike the warriors apprentice at that time. At first, he couldn't image a life without hunting and battling, but realized that medicine cats had a really important position. They had to heal and take care of their plants, interpret signs and dreams from StarClan, but at the same time, they had to protect their patients in battle like any other warrior would.
Poppyclaw was torn between the options until right before his ceremony, where he finally choose the path of a medicine cat. Even though it was late, he told his answer to the medicine cat, who was overjoyed to have him help as a real apprentice under them. Poppyclaw as an apprentice was often snappy and impatient with cats who questioned what they were doing out of fear that their loved one may die. He was often rude to others and got scolded by his mentor.
After receiving his full name, the old medicine cat made him swear to try and become less rude and impatient, something that may or may not make him a bad medicine cat. Poppyclaw agreed, and ever since his mentor passed away, he's been trying his hardest to keep to that promise. He was feeling lost when he didn't manage to save a cat after his mentor's passing, but managed to move on. He wouldn't admit it, but that death still haunts him.
