For some cats of MarshClan, the day had already begun. But, it was still early.
This fall morning was a chilly one, but not too terribly cold... a light fog had settled over the land. The sun hadn't quite risen over the land yet, but naturally, that did not mean that the cats of the swamps and streams was at rest. Slowly the slender, stone-gray shecat emerged from the reeds, teal eyes glistening in the dim light. She'd organized an early morning border patrol, just as she did every morning, but the reason she had returned alone was evident by the frog she grasped onto firmly, but carefully; Riverstorm had split off to do some quick hunting. Granted, amphibian certainly wasn't everyone's favorite, but it was better than nothing, and it was well worth her time. If there was one thing the deputy despised more than anything, it was a waste of time; she would have no part in such things.
Riverstorm was quiet and careful as she stepped towards the fresh-kill pile. She was the type of cat who liked to get the job done, and took her rank very seriously, but she was still plenty respectful towards her clanmates. The dawn border patrol was completed. She did plan on organizing a hunting patrol today, but MarshClan would need to be well rested in order to perform at their best; they deserved to sleep. With a sigh, Riverstorm realized she could probably use a moment herself. It was very quiet and peaceful, just how she liked it. So, when she dropped the frog on the pile, she took a few steps away, took a deep breath, and looked up at the sky. The morning colors were beginning to show, and in doing so Silverpelt was beginning to fade away. Some of the younger cats, or those more easily discouraged might have felt as though StarClan was leaving them, but Riverstorm knew better. StarClan was always watching, and she would see them again the next night anyway.
The gray shecat gave a small, modest smile as she gazed across the camp for any clanmates who may be up and about. No matter how hectic or dramatic everything got, it was pleasant moments like this that made it all worth it. She would have to get back to work soon, but for now, Riverstorm was happy to enjoy this fall morning.
